Series 4 Episode 15 - Something Wicked this Way Comes

(Phone rings)
Kerry: Hello?
Phyllis: You're not getting away again.
Kerry: I'm doing this. You can't stop me.
Phyllis: I can't but the police force coming after you can.
Kerry: You have no idea where I'm at.
Phyllis: They'll find you Kerry. Just give yourself up.
Kerry: I've been running for nearly a year now. I can do it again for another year.
Phyllis: Kerry...
Kerry: What?
Phyllis: Why did you really come back?
Kerry: I just needed to pick up something.
Phyllis: What?
Kerry: I know what you do mum. I know you're a cop.
Phyllis: So?
Kerry: You might want to check your hospital room for anything important that's gone missing.
Phyllis: Kerry! You haven't...?
Kerry: Those documents you were hiding? Yes, I have them.
Phyllis: You can't! How'd you get them? It's not safe!
Kerry: So many questions, so little time.
Phyllis: Kerry just promise me you won't.
Kerry: I'm doing it mum.
Phyllis: Kerry!
Kerry: Goodbye.

It's Halloween on Sim Street.

(Phone rings)
Ben: Hello?
Jackie: 10 hours Benjamin, 10 hours.
Ben: I thought I told you where to go.
Jackie: I'm just warning you to be prepared now.
Ben: (Hangs up)

Lexi: Can you go to the shops to get some more nappies for Kacey?
Rik: Sure.
Lexi: Are you sure? Or won't all those woman you meet on the way be a bit of a distraction.
Rik: I'm beyond caring about anything you say so stop wasting your time.
Lexi: I can clearly see you're bothered.
Rik: I'm not. Now lets stop these silly little digs at each other and get on with things.
Lexi: Wait. I have to go with Kacey to a mother and daughter class this afternoon and you have work. Who'll run the pub?
Rik: Phyllis can I suppose. Or Seth.
Lexi: Don't you think it's too much to keep on asking them to do it?
Rik: Oh c'mon, this is the woman so intent on getting her hands on this house, the pub, that'll she do anything. (Laughs)

Rik: What is it?
Lexi: You're right.
Rik: What?
Lexi: It's her fault. It's all her fault. Why didn't I see it?
Rik: Lexi, what are you going on about?
Lexi: All this time all I cared about was you and the wedding.
Rik: I don't see where you're going with this.
Lexi: I never even stopped to see what a conniving little bitch she was.
Rik: Who is?
Lexi: That's all she's ever tried to do. She's drugged you once so she could easily have done it before.
Rik: What?
Lexi: You said you didn't remember anything about the night Delia kissed you?
Rik: Not a thing.
Lexi: Really?
Rik: I swear.

Rik: What?
Lexi: It's all the fault of Phyllis. She kept trying to break us up before to get us out of the pub. I can't believe I let one of her tricks split us up.

Rik: And what the hell was that for?
Lexi: For ever making me doubt you.

Seth: Guys.
Lexi: Where have you been?
Seth: The hospital. Didn't I call you last night?
Lexi: No. What happened?
Seth: It's Phyllis, she's had a hearth attack.
Lexi: Oh. Is she okay?
Seth: She'll be fine, it wasn't a serious one. The doctors are keeping her in to keep an eye on her though.
Lexi: Can we visit?
Seth: Yes, the visiting hours finish at 5pm so you have plenty of time.

Lexi: We have to visit Phyllis.
Rik: And confront her? Don't you think confronting her at a time like this is a bit dodgy?
Lexi: I just want Phyllis to confess that she was trying to split us up - confronting her head on isn't what I plan.
Rik: Good, another confrontation between you too would probably give her a second heart attack.
Lexi: Well, in that case...
Rik: Lexi, no. We just want to get the truth from her.

Lou: I have a bit of a sore head, I'm staying in bed today.
Ben: Okay, sure. I'll see you later.
(Door bell rings)

Ben: Mother, what are you doing here?
Jackie: May I come in?
Ben: Sure, if you must.

Jackie: With a fire just last week, I'm surprised to see you redecorating so soon.
Ben: We've repainted the whole of the downstairs and laid a new carpet.
Jackie: Anyway, enough chit chat, you know how I called earlier?
Ben: Yes.
Jackie: I was just warning you to be prepared.
Ben: Yes.
Jackie: Well I hope you are...

Jackie: ...because now the plan goes into action.

Lexi: I just can't believe I never saw it before. When I saw you kissing Delia I never thought Phyllis was behind it. I just saw you and Delia over and over and that image has never left me.
Rik: I'm glad you and I have now seen the truth.
Lexi: So am I.
Rik: I can't believe you'd ever think I'd cheat on you.
Lexi: I'm sorry but you can't blame me.
Rik: Yeah, you're right, that evidence was pretty damn good.
Lexi: I'm just glad we're together again.
Rik: So am I.

Lou: Oh, Jackie.
Jackie: Good afternoon Louise.
Lou: Where's Ben?
Jackie: He's popped out for a little while.
Lou: Oh, right.
Jackie: Are you okay?
Lou: I just have a sore head.
Jackie: Oh, I have just the treatment for that. Let me whip you up a nice mug of hot chocolate and some biscuits. Nothing makes a headache better.
Lou: Some paracetamol would be fine. You don't have to go the trouble of...
Jackie: Nonsense. It's no hassle at all making this.

Jackie: How's that now?
Lou: That's one helluva cup of hot chocolate.
Jackie: Told you you'd fell better.
Lou: Well I do, thanks.
Jackie: So, Lou. Lets talk. How's Ben?
Lou: Fine, everything's fine.
Jackie: Really?
Lou: Although I do have a few questions.
Jackie: For me?
Lou: Yeah. Like why do you keep calling him and annoying him?
Jackie: There are several reasons. And I have one of them here.
Lou: What is it?
Jackie: I've just put a home video in the video player. Look.

Jackie: That's Ben with an ex-girlfriend.
Lou: Right.
Jackie: She's dead now.
Lou: Oh, what happened.
Jackie: All of Ben's ex-girlfriends are dead. Gone. Vanished.
Lou: What?
Jackie: All of Ben's ex-girlfriends killed. All of them.
Lou: Why are you... why are you telling me all this?
Jackie: It's what I tell all of Ben's girlfriends before I kill them.
Lou: No... NO. Don't...
Jackie: Don't try and cause a scene. You're ill remember.
Lou: Why do I feel worse? I feel woozy. What have you done?
Jackie: Extra strong sleeping tablets. They work a treat.
Lou: HELP!
Jackie: There's no point in shouting. Nobody can hear you. And don't even think of trying to escape...

Jackie: ...because that's what'll happen.

July 2005
Jackie: One sugar or two?
Gloria: Two please.

Gloria: Will Ben be home soon? I was hoping to speak to him.
Jackie: Oh I'm sure he'll be here soon. He only went out to pick up a few messages from the supermarket.
Gloria: Hmm, this tea has a bit of a flavour to it.
Jackie: Mine tastes no different.
Gloria: Anyway, Ben and I were thinking of buying our own place together. We know we've only been together a short while but it seems like a good idea.
Jackie: That's where you're wrong. It's not a good idea.
Gloria: Huh? Why not?
Jackie: Because Ben's never allowed to be happy.
Gloria: Jackie what's the matter? And why am I feeling so dizzy?
Jackie: That'll be the drugs, nice to see they're working for a change. Last time I had to kill Ben's girlfriend whilst she was still living. Horrible death it was.
Gloria: Jackie - what are you going on about?
Jackie: Killing the other girls was never easy. They were just innocent girls. You. You're different.
Gloria: Jackie! I, I...
Jackie: Oh you only have a few minute left before - bang - you're knocked out cold.

Gloria: Ja... (cough)
Jackie: You didn't think I'd ever find out about you and Robert did you? I'll never let Ben have true happiness after he killed his father - my husband - but I never expected him to have a girlfriend that'd be so easy to kill.
Gloria: (Silence)

Paula: Henry? Henry?!
Henry: Yes?
Paula: Why are all your things packed away in suitcases upstairs? Are you leaving?
Henry: No, you are.
Paula: Excuse me?
Henry: You have another home that you bought. I thought you'd be dying to move in so I helped you pack.
Paula: Fine. Where's Amelia?
Henry: She's staying here.
Paula: Oh no she isn't.
Henry: She is - it's her choice.
Paula: It can't be. AMELIA?!

Amelia: What is it mum?
Paula: Is it true? You want to stay here?
Amelia: It's just because I already live here. I don't want to move schools again or make new friends. I'm settled.
Paula: But...?
Henry: You were the one who wanted to break up, Paula.
Paula: But I said I was taking Amelia with me.
Henry: She's 16 years old now, she's old enough to make her own decisions and she wants to stay here.
(Silence)
Henry: Well, what are you waiting for?
Paula: Nothing, I'm just...
Henry: Just what?
Paula: Nothing, nothing at all.
Henry: Well maybe you should go now. Amelia's already said she's going to find it hard to live without you around and she's not the only one who feels that way.
Paula: You'll miss me too?
Henry: We've been together over 10 years, of course I'll miss you. I love you.
Paula: But...
Henry: But you've made your decision. Please go, I can't stand to be around you any more because you just remind me of what I can't have. It's too painful.
Paula: Henry?
Henry: Forget it, we're over. Goodbye Paula.

Phyllis: Good afternoon Rik. What brings you here?

Rik: It's Lexi.
Phyllis: What about her?
Rik: What the hell do you thinks happened? She's killed herself. She took a jar of pills and alcohol this morning and left a note.
Phyllis: Are you being serious?
Rik: Deadly.
Phyllis: Well you only have yourself to blame, you cheating piece of scum.
Rik: I know I'm not a cheater and so do you but Lexi didn't and now she's gone to her grave thinking that.
Phyllis: I don't know what to say. I can't say I'm surprised - or sad even.
Rik: You're a cold hearted bitch, Phyllis, and I know you'll do anything to get what you want.
Phyllis: I can't believe I'm being accused of such things - I never once tried to split Lexi and you up.
Rik: As if!
Phyllis: Don't blame me, Rik, for breaking up the happy little couple - you did that all by yourself.
Rik: Lexi's dead now, you can give up the act. You're fooling nobody.

Seth: It's true, Lexi passed away this morning from an overdose.
Phyllis: Are you sure?
Seth: You know I wouldn't lie to you. I was just talking to the police, I had to give a statement.
Phyllis: So you mean Lexi actually killed herself?
Seth: Yes.
Phyllis: Gosh, I feel so terrible.
Rik: Why's that Phyllis? You weren't the one in love with her - I was. Now the only thing I ever cared about in my life is gone and it's all your fault!
Phyllis: If there was any way I could make it up to you?
Rik: Well there isn't, unless you can bring Lexi back from the dead. But you could at least do the decent thing and admit that you were the one who pushed Lexi over the edge.
Phyllis: Well, maybe I did try and split both of you up a little bit.
Rik: A little bit? You drugged me - twice!
Phyllis: Well...
Rik: And you pushed Lexi from a roof.
Phyllis: That wasn't me but whoever it was I thank. However after countless failed attempts I got there eventually.

Lexi: Or so you think.

Phyllis: What?!
Rik: We can play one or two tricks of our own Phyllis.
Phyllis: You conniving bunch of...
Lexi: I have to say I'm surprised you fell for that little scam. I thought you'd sense something was up. Anyway, it's nice to finally hear the truth.
Phyllis: What are you doing?
Lexi: Rik and I are back together and you are moving out of the pub. You may have won the battles Phyllis but I have won the war.
Phyllis: I am not moving anywhere.
Lexi: Sorry, I should rephrase that - you have moved out of the pub. Your bags are packed and Seth has already organised a pick up van.
Phyllis: No.
Rik: Oh yes.
Lexi: If we'd have known it would have been this easy to trick you Phyllis we'd have done it a long time ago... but now the war's over. No more arguing, no more fighting. However, well done to you, you put up one hell of a fight.
Rik: Yes, you did. We at least know now why Kerry turned out so bad - and that's because you certainly taught her well!
Lexi: Catch you around Phyllis.

Kerry: Y'know he's right. You did teach me well.
Phyllis: Kerry!
Kerry: Hello mum. Long time, no see.

Paul: C'mon, I can't wait to see your costume!
Lisa: In a minute.
Paul: If we're any longer the party will finish, we're already an hour late.
Lisa: It's okay, here I come.

Paul: Wow!
Lisa: You like?
Paul: Most definitely. Now lets get to the party so I can show you off!

Paul: Gee, it's kinda empty in here.
Lisa: Well, a lot of people have things on - Phyllis had a heart attack, Paula's moving out and so on.
Paul: You have all the suitcases packed?
Lisa: Yeah, including Katy and Leon's.
Paul: Do they know yet?
Lisa: They have no idea we're moving away yet.
Paul: Do you think it'll be hard to convince them?
Lisa: It might be, I haven't considered it.
Paul: What if they decide to stay?
Lisa: They won't - they can't.
Paul: Maybe we don't have to tell them. We could just tell them we're going to another party, get them in the car and drive.
Lisa: That might work, actually. It does sound a bit more easier as well.
Paul: Looks like that's the new plan.

Ben: (Sighs) Has anyone (sighs) seen Lou (sighs)...
Rik: Try and catch your breath, mate.
Ben: ...or Jackie? (Sighs)
Rik: Nope, haven't seen them all day. Is everything alright?
Ben: Yeah, yeah. I'm just looking for them.

Paul: Do you think something's up?
Lisa: How could it be?
Paul: Maybe we should leave earlier than planned?

Jackie: Ah, I wondered where you'd ran off to.
Ben: What have you done to Lou?
Jackie: Nothing she didn't deserve.
Ben: That's not the answer I was looking for.
Jackie: You know Benjamin, I thought that knock I gave you earlier was enough to knock you out for a while. Obviously I thought wrong.
Ben: Where's Lou? Tell me!
Jackie: I'm only doing what needs to be done. You'll meet Lou again shortly.
Ben: Why? Why have you been ruining my life for the past year? Ever since we moved here you've been hell personified!
Jackie: You really haven't got it yet have you? And I thought I raised an intelligent little boy.
Ben: Don't patronise me!
Jackie: Work it out Ben. How many girlfriends have you had? How many of them have you ever managed to keep in contact with?
Ben: But I didn't care, or want to know. I know one or two just disappeared, no reason, but it happens.
Jackie: Wake up Ben. They're all dead, all of them.
Ben: I'm not taking anymore crap from you.
Jackie: Fine, don't believe me. Looking in my bedroom might convince you though, I just happened to take photographs of their graves before tonight.

Ben: You really did do it, didn't you?
Jackie: It was only what you deserved!
Ben: But what about those woman? They were all innocent victims!
Jackie: But they had one major flaw - they fell in love with you.
Ben: I cant believe this. You? You killed all 5 of them?
Jackie: Can't say I'm proud of what I did.
Ben: I'm in shock, I just can't believe it.
Jackie: And I can't believe it's taken you several years to figure it out.
Ben: I just have one question - why?
Jackie: You killed the one person most important to me.
Ben: It was an accident you stupid woman! I was driven off the road! What don't you understand?!
Jackie: You killed your own father!
Ben: You killed 5, now 6, innocent woman! You're saying what I did, accidentally, is worse?
Jackie: Of course it is. You killed my husband.
Ben: You really are a cold hearted, selfish bitch.
Jackie: So I suppose you're going straight to the police now?
Ben: Once I've found Lou, yes.
Jackie: I'm not going to let you.

Ben: Oh so you're going to kill me now? Just like those all those woman. And what about Lisa? I suppose she's next?
Jackie:  Oh, not so dumb anymore, are we?
Ben: Well good luck trying to kill me, but I can't see a frail old woman like yourself doing much harm when I know what's about to hit me.
Jackie: It'll be no problem at all.
Ben: Even your own son? Won't it be a little hard to do? Killing your own son?
Jackie: No, I shouldn't think so... after all, I've done it before.

Ben: What?!

Jackie: I thought that might catch you off guard.

Kerry: Are you sure you can get out of bed?
Phyllis: I suffered a heart attack, not a stroke. Now, what are you doing here?
Kerry: I came to see you. I heard what had happened. Are you okay?
Phyllis: Forget me, where the hell have you been? How have you been coping?
Kerry: I didn't know you cared so much.
Phyllis: I don't care but that doesn't mean I'm not interested. So why are you really here?
Kerry: I'm fed up running. I'm depressed. I just want to go back to the life I had before.
Phyllis: You've come too far. You're one of the most wanted people in the country.
Kerry: I know. And that's why I keep running. You have no idea how much I wish I could go back in time and change things.
Phyllis: You mean you'd actually do things differently?
Kerry: I never chose this life.
Phyllis: We all have to take responsibility for our actions, even you.

Kerry: Do you think my life as a teenager would have been different if I hadn't met Kate? Of course it would have been. I would never have run off, I would never have turned to prostitution and I would have had Lauren as a best friend.
Phyllis: But you had Lauren when you came back to Riverside.
Kerry: But then Kate turned up again - and instead of ruining just my life she ruined Lauren and Dave's too.
Phyllis: I know, she had an affair with Dave and we all remember that gun incident in the pub.
Kerry: And now she's living a life back in Sim Street while Dave and Lauren are six feet under and I may as well be!
Phyllis: Don't say that, people still care about you.
Kerry: Well I don't care about anyone else.
Phyllis: Well then why did you come here? You obviously cared enough about me to check I'm alright. And how did you know?
Kerry: Dad told me. I saw him last night.
Phyllis: Well if you don't care then I bet you wish this was the end of me.
Kerry: Don't say that - I do love you.
Phyllis: I've never heard you say that before.
Kerry: Well, there's a first for everything. And if you love me you'll let me go away once again.
Phyllis: Where to?
Kerry: I have a couple of things to do around here first then I'll be gone again. But this is goodbye to you, I won't be back to Riverside again.

Phyllis: Kerry?
Kerry: Yes mum?
Phyllis: I love you too. (Sobs)

10.14pm
Paul: Right, you ready to go and throw the suitcases into the car?
Lisa: Yeah, I'll go and do that right now.
Paul: Great, I'll try and find the kids and tell them we're leaving for another party at 11pm.

Jackie: You haven't seen Lisa going around have you Rik?
Rik: Yeah, she was here just a few minutes ago. I think she just popped back home.
Jackie: Okay, thanks for your help.

(Mobile phone rings)
Lisa: Not now, I'm busy!
Jackie: Going somewhere Lisa?
Lisa: What? Who's there? Where are you?

Rik: I'm just so happy right now.
Lexi: So am I. I'm glad we've got back together.
Rik: I could be just a little bit happier though.
Lexi: How?
Rik: I'll show you. But we have to leave the street for a while.
Lexi: Who'll look after the pub?
Rik: My dad's upstairs, I'm sure he will.
Lexi: Great, now where are we going? Is it going to be like some Halloween tour thing?
Rik: It's all a surprise, just follow me.

9.58pm

Jackie: Just a tragic accident it'll look like. I was going to set Ben up, Lisa, by getting him to kill you but alas, the little boy refused and decided to play it the hard way.
(Silence)
Jackie: Ben commits suicide when he discovers his next door neighbour was the one who killed his brother whilst his girlfriend Lou tries to kill Lisa for causing such devastation however they both fall to their deaths.  That'll be how the story goes tomorrow in the news. How tragic. And how ironic, it all happens on the very spot where Lisa originally tried to kill my son.

Jackie: Rest in peace, bitch. And now you Lou.

Kate: Lou! LOU!

Jackie: Lou isn't here at the moment.

Kate: What have you done to her? And Ben?
Jackie: Nothing that they didn't deserve. It's such a shame you're going to have to join them now, I kinda liked you, Kate.
Kate: Oh that's what you think.
Woman: I'm not surprised to see you haven't changed your ways, Jackie.

(Gunshot)

Jackie: Gloria!

Ben: Lou! You're alright!
Lou: Ben! I'm so glad to see you. Your mother - she...
Ben: I know, but it's all over. She's dead. The police and ambulance crew are downstairs, they've taken her body away.
Lou: What about everyone else - Kate? Lisa?
Ben: Kate's alright, I don't know about Lisa.

Ben: Gloria, you're alive! I thought you were dead.
Gloria: No, I'm alive, always have been.
Ben: What happened all those years ago then? My mother said she killed all my ex-girlfriends.

July 2005
Ben
: Mother, what's wrong with Gloria?
Jackie: Oh, you're home early. And Gloria, she just KO'd on the sofa, I think she's just tired.
Ben: Oh, alright. I just came back from the supermarket to work from home. I'll be upstairs if you need me. And when Gloria wakes, send her up.
Jackie: Will do.

2 hours later
Gloria: What happened?
Jackie: You fell asleep on the sofa.
Gloria: I remember you said I'd taken some sleeping pills. Was that by accident?
Jackie: I have a few things to tell you dear.

Gloria: And your mum warned me to stay away, to move back to my old town. And I did. I never left you Ben, not willingly.
Ben: How did you find me again?
Gloria: I've been searching for a year. When I was researching I found all your other girlfriends dead, I just knew then I had to find you and save you.
Lou: Do you still love Ben?
Ben: Lou!
Lou: Well, I remember you saying Gloria was the most love you've been in before me.
Gloria: I do love you, Ben. I've never stopped.
Lou: And you?
Ben: What?
Lou: Do you still love her?
Ben: I guess. It's hard to say, it's been a long time
Gloria: I'm going back to America tonight, I only have a 24 hour stay in the country.
Ben: So, what does that mean?
Gloria: You have a few hours to make up your mind. I still love you Ben but I'm not going to steal you from Lou. You can make up your own mind about what you want to do. I'll be at the airport at 1am. Now I have to go and give a statement to the police before I leave.

Lexi: Where are we?
Rik: You'll see.
Lexi: Is that a church?
Rik: Yes.
Lexi: You're not being serious?
Rik: Only if it's about being in love with you.

Paula is at her new home, 15 miles from Riverside.

Henry is listening to a message left on his phone by Paula a few weeks ago.
Paula:
Hi, Henry, it's me. You're obviously busy so I'm just leaving you this message on your phone. Look, today made me realise a few things. I know our marriage has hit the rocks but I've thought about things and I think we should maybe give it another go, even if it means marriage counselling. Call me back. I love you.

Lexi: Where did you get the ring?
Rik: I found it in the park, it'll do until we get a proper one.

12am

Vicar: I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.

Ben: I hate to be saying this over the answer phone but I'm on my way to the airport now. I have to let you go. I love you. (Cries)

Amelia: Where are we going?
Henry: I made a mistake honey. We're going to mums to get her.

Paula: There's a thunderstorm, I'll get electrocuted. If not I'll just have to drown myself - it'll be painful but not as painful as losing everything I've already lost. (Cries)

Kerry: I've just gotta get out of here. Go as far away as possible.

Phyllis: (Crying)
Seth: It's okay, I would have called the police too. Kerry should be punished for what she's done.
Phyllis: It's not that.
Seth: Then what is it?
Phyllis: You know those headaches I've been having recently?
Seth: Yeah?
Phyllis: The doctors told me I have a brain tumour, Seth.

Rik: I love you.
Lexi: I love you too.
Rik: I'm so glad we're back together - and married.
Lexi: I'm so glad we're back together, married - and have another baby on the way!
Rik: What?
Lexi: I'm pregnant - 3 months gone already.
Rik: That's fantastic.

Paul: What happened? Where's Lisa?
Police Officer: There was a bit of trouble earlier tonight.
Paul: I know, Jackie was killed. I saw her body bag. What about Lisa? Where is she?

Paul: Lisa! You're alright!
Lisa: I'm fine, just a little bashed and bruised.

Paul: I'm so glad you're okay.
Lisa: I'm so glad this ordeal is finally over.

Henry: Paula?! PAULA?!

Paula: (Coughs) What? (Splutters) Henry?
Henry: I came back, honey. I came back.

Lou: Ben? What are you doing here? I thought you went to the airport?
Ben
: No. You're the one I want, Lou. You're the only one I've ever wanted.

5 months later, March 2008
Car Radio: It's 5th March, it's 10pm and here are your main news stories of the day. There have been several reported sightings of fugitive Kerry Harris. She's supposedly been seen around the Veronaville area. If you do see her, it is advised that you do not approach her and instead call the police immediately. On a lighter note, the newly retired model Rachel Stone has made Riverside her new home. Moving into the town, Rachel settled in with her husband of several years, Julian. The couple gave a press statement...

Woman: Kerry! What the...?!
Kerry: Lauren. Long time, no see.
