Lisa: I just think we have two options here - confront the problem head on or runaway - and running away seems like the best option.

Seth: I have to ask that today you leave Rik and Lexi well alone - no messing around. This is a momentous day for them, it's not something you can mess up.
Phyllis: I won't do anything silly - I wasn't planning on anyway.
Seth: Promise?
Phyllis: I promise.

Lexi: This is payback, Rik. This is how humiliation feels.

Paula: Hi, Henry, it's me. You're obviously busy so I'm just leaving you this message on your phone. Look, today made me realise a few things. I know our marriage has hit the rocks but I've thought about things and I think we should maybe give it another go, even if it means marriage counselling. Call me back. I love you.

Kerry: Ah Riverside. Home sweet home.

Series 4 Episode 14 - They Warned Me About You

5.03am

Lexi: Holy crap! Ben, Lou, Kate - your house is on fire!

9.38am
Kerry: Hi I'd like a room to stay in.
Receptionist: How long will you be staying with us?
Kerry: I'm not entirely sure yet. Put me down for a week and if I want to extend my stay I'll let you know.
Receptionist: Okay, and is it a single or double bedroom you're after?
Kerry: Single will do fine.
Receptionist: Okay, now I just need a few of your details. Your name?
Kerry: Katy Smith.
Receptionist: And will you be paying by debit or credit card?
Kerry: Neither, I only have cash.
Receptionist: Well we only accept debit or credit cards, I'm sorry. I suggest you take that money, put it into a bank account and come back later.
Kerry: Actually, forget the room, just leave it. I'll find somewhere else to stay.

Paula: So, have fun last night Henry?
Henry: I don't know what you mean.
Paula: Well whatever you were doing, you certainly sounded like you were having fun.
Henry: Anyway, I thought you would've gone to your flat last night?
Paula: It was too far away to walk to, I hadn't enough money on me for a taxi, I had been drinking so couldn't drive.
Henry: Okay.
Paula: So what's her name?
Henry: Ruby. I hope you're not offended. After all, you were the one to implement the break up.
Paula: No, not offended at all. Just surprised to see you move on so quickly.
Henry: Well after you decided to move out and buy a flat I guessed there was no chance of us ever getting back together. Therefore I decided to move on too.
Paula: Good, good for you.

Lexi: (Crying) I just can't believe he'd do such a thing.
Phyllis: Well you can't say I didn't warn you. You should thank me.
Lexi: For ruining my marriage? Yeah, thanks a lot Phyllis, thanks for the best wedding present ever (!)
Phyllis: Well would you rather have married him and then found out. At least you don't have to go through a divorce.
Lexi: Maybe I wouldn't have found out at all. They do say ignorance is bliss.
Phyllis: Well if you wanted to live a life of lies...
(Silence)
Phyllis: Now where is he, that scumbag ex of yours.
Lexi: I haven't seen him since yesterday.
Phyllis: Hmm, I imagine he'll be moping around feeling sorry for himself. We should make his day better and tell him he can move out.
Lexi: No.
Phyllis: Why? He cheated on you.
Lexi: I still love him.
Phyllis: Pfft, the man cheated on you, he slept with another woman and you still want him back.
Lexi: I don't want him back, I just still love him.
Phyllis: Love is fickle dear, you'll get over him and with my help you'll be feeling better than ever.
Lexi: I don't want your help, I don't want anybodies help.
Phyllis: I'll leave you to consider my help while I go and see what Rik's up to.

Phyllis: Come on, get off your backside..
Rik: What?
Phyllis: You can't just lie around in here all day.
Rik: What am I supposed to do? Apologise? But I've done that countless times now.
Phyllis: Apologise? Don't be silly, Lexi doesn't want you back.
Rik: Maybe if I do something really extravagant she'll forgive me.
Phyllis: She'll never forgive you.
Rik: But I still love her.
Phyllis: So much that you'd sleep with Delia?
Rik: I didn't, I don't know what I was doing, I can't remember.
Phyllis: That's what they all say, all the other male scumbags who cheated on their wives and girlfriends.

12.03pm

Ben: If you've come to gloat about the fact that I don't have a proper home then you can sod off.
Jackie: That's no way to talk to your own mother. And no, I haven't come to gloat, I've come with an offer.
Ben: Oh, let me guess. If I kill Lisa you'll give me a place to stay, right?
Jackie: Exactly.
Ben: Oh mother, you are unbelievably predictable.
Jackie: But can't you consider?
Ben: The answer's no - always will be. You just don't seem to be able to take no for an answer.
Jackie: And you just don't seem to understand - this job is for you.
Ben: I can quite easily go to the police - there's nothing stopping me.
Jackie: You wouldn't want to shop your old mother off to jail now would you?
Ben: Not unless I have to.
Jackie: Well Benjamin, you listen closely and you listen well. If you don't do your job or you decide to go within an inch of the nearest police station, I swear to God that Lou will become a neighbour of Lauren Hill, amongst others. And that's not a threat, it's a promise. And you know better than anyone Benjamin, that I keep my promises.

Lisa: Paul!
Paul: Yes?
Lisa: Just before you go back to work I wanted your opinion.
Paul: What about?
Lisa: That house in Lakeside. Are we still going to buy it?
Paul: If you still think it's a good idea to move away then yes, lets buy it.
Lisa: Great. Are you sure you still want to move away?
Paul: If it means we can escape all of this murder crap surrounding Rob and Jackie then yes, definitely.
Lisa: Fantastic.
Paul: My only concern is the kids - will Katy and Leon want to move again? And at such short notice?
Lisa: I'll think of something to convince them. They'll have to come anyway, they can't just stay here.

1.13pm

Phyllis: Hello?
(Silence)
Phyllis: Hello?
(Silence)
Phyllis: Hello? Is anybody there?
(Silence)
Phyllis: (Hangs up) Stupid prank calls! Do kids these days have no idea of how to spend time without being a nuisance?

Kate: I can't believe Rik would cheat on Lexi.
Lou: You think he did it then?
Kate: Lexi must have been pretty sure he cheated on her for her to do that.
Lou: Yeah, poor girl.
Kate: If any guy was to ever cheat on me I don't know what I'd do.
Lou: But I do know what you'd do if some guy cheated with you - and then tried to call it off.
Kate: I don't what you mean.
Lou: (Laughs)
Kate: I don't know what you're laughing at.
Lou: I'm just glad I'm safe with Ben.
Kate: Heh, that's what you think.
Lou: Oi, what's that supposed to mean?
Kate: (Laughs)

Ben: Yes, what is that supposed to mean?
Kate: Nothing, I'm just messing with Lou.
Ben: Talking about mess, I think we should get a move on cleaning up across the road. The fire brigade have left but they'll be back later. It's safe to re-enter.
Lou: What about the cause?
Ben: They don't know yet. They said they'll be back to investigate.
Lou: How bad is the damage?
Ben: It's pretty bad. I think we're going to have to renovate the whole of the downstairs rooms at least.
Kate: Sounds like we were lucky last night. It's a good job we all decided to stay here with Lexi and comfort her.
Lou: The damage sounds pretty bad - it must mean we only have a bedroom and a toilet upstairs that isn't damaged.
Ben: Well there's bad smoke damage but...
Lou: Hmm, I think we should just rent another apartment for now. Our home sounds like such a mess. We should get a flat and live there whilst our home gets renovated.
Ben: That could take weeks to sort out - and it'll be costly.
Lou: Well it's either that or we sleep in a house that stinks of smoke and has no kitchen, living room or bedroom for Kate.
Ben: I'll make a call to the estate agents.

Rik: Lexi?
Lexi: I don't want to talk to you.
Rik: But we need to.
Lexi: We don't need to do anything.
Rik: Please. What do I have to do to make you forgive me.
Lexi: Do you really want me to answer that?
Rik: I just want us to get back to how it was before.
Lexi: You waved goodbye to that when you slept with that tart.
Rik: I didn't - I promise. I can't even remember that night.
Lexi: That's strange, you never can remember some nights - like that night you fell asleep in the park.
Rik: It's not my fault.
Lexi: Oh it is. Everything is, Rik.
Rik: Lexi, please don't...
Lexi: Rik, just get out of my sight forever.

Seth: You promised not to do anything.
Phyllis: I didn't promise anything, I just said I'd try not to intervene.
Seth: But you did!
Phyllis: I just couldn't bear to watch that poor girl mess up her life forever.
Seth: Oh, please! You don't care about Lexi.
Phyllis: I care enough to prevent her from ruining her life.
Seth: Again, enough with the act.
Phyllis: I did the right thing. If I had ever cheated on you wouldn't you like to know?
Seth: I don't know, sometimes what you don't know can't hurt you. Maybe it would've been best if she'd just never learnt the truth.
Phyllis: Well once she calms down she'll see that what I did was right.
Seth: And what do you expect to happen between Rik and Lexi after that? And what about the baby?
Phyllis: Well she'll throw him out, she'll move away with the baby - because running a pub as a single mother is too much - and we'll be left here on our own.
Seth: Anybody would think that's a plan you've got.

Estate Agent: So I've got one flat ready to give you - it's got two bedrooms, one bathroom and a joint kitchen and lounge.
Ben: Sounds great. Is it nearby?
Estate Agent: It's on James Street, just around the corner from Sim Street.
Ben: Again, great.
Estate Agent: So I need some of your details, if you'll just look here.
Ben: I'll need to go home and fetch some things before I fill in that form.
Kate: And can't we see the flat before we move in?
Estate Agent: Here are the keys. You can pop around and check it out if you want.
Lou: And I'll go home and get your letters and stuff Ben.
Ben: Okay, they should all be in the second drawer down in my bedside cabinet.
Lou: Okay, won't be long.

Phyllis; Ah, Lexi, feeling better?
Lexi: A little. And I just want to tell you something.
Phyllis: What is it?
Lexi: Just to say that you should expect to be packing your bags sometime soon.
Phyllis: Excuse me?
Lexi: You don't have anything against me anymore. You could threaten me before but it won't work now.
Phyllis: So you'll throw an elderly couple out on the street will you?
Lexi: Don't play the old card, you have enough money to buy a house twice this size - and this is one of the biggest buildings in Riverside.
Phyllis: I can find other ways to stay here.
Lexi: No, no you can't. The thing I cared about most is out of my life. It doesn't matter what you do to me from now on because I'll never hurt more than I'm hurting right now.
Phyllis: Well if that's the way you feel...
Lexi: It is. So prepare to pack your bags bitch because you're leaving.

Ben: Haven't we already had this meeting today?
Jackie: I come with one final offer.
Ben: I don't want to hear it.
Jackie: Oh I think you do.
Ben: Fine, whatever.
Jackie: You have 24 hours to kill Lisa.
Ben: No.
Jackie: You've killed before now do it again.
Ben: I have never killed before!
Jackie: Your father!
Ben: That was an accident.
Jackie: No death's an accident Benjamin.
Ben: I couldn't help that some speeding idiot sent me off the road.
Jackie: It doesn't matter anyway, it's in the past. We're looking to the future now and you have 24 hours to kill Lisa or life will well and truly be over. I'll see you tomorrow.

Lou: Who was that outside?
Ben: My mother again.
Lou: Oh.
Ben: I've had such a long day with the fire and all. I just want to move into the apartment and get a good nights sleep.

Lou: Wait.
Ben: What is it?
Lou: When I was looking for your things earlier I found a photo.
Ben: Oh.
Lou: I think it was one of you and your dad, it was in your bedside cabinet drawer.
Ben: Yeah, that's my father in the photo.
Lou: I noticed the date on the back is today's date. Is it... the anniversary?
Ben: Yeah.
Lou: You didn't say anything. I wasn't sure whether to bring it up or not but I know what it's like to lose somebody - I lost my dad too. And every year on the anniversary I visit the spot where he died.

July 2005
Jackie: One sugar or two?
Gloria: Two please.

Gloria: Will Ben be home soon? I was hoping to speak to him.
Jackie: Oh I'm sure he'll be here soon. He only went out to pick up a few messages from the supermarket.
Gloria: Hmm, this tea has a bit of a flavour to it.
Jackie: Mine tastes no different.
Gloria: Anyway, Ben and I were thinking of buying our own place together. We know we've only been together a short while but it seems like a good idea.
Jackie: That's where you're wrong. It's not a good idea.
Gloria: Huh? Why not?
Jackie: Because Ben's never allowed to be happy.
Gloria: Jackie what's the matter? And why am I feeling so dizzy?
Jackie: That'll be the drugs, nice to see they're working for a change. Last time I had to kill Ben's girlfriend whilst she was still living. Horrible death it was.
Gloria: Jackie - what are you going on about?
Jackie: Killing the other girls was never easy. They were just innocent girls. You. You're different.
Gloria: Jackie! I, I...
Jackie: Oh you only have a few minute left before - bang - you're knocked out cold.

Gloria: Ja... (cough)
Jackie: You didn't think I'd ever find out about you and Robert did you? I'll never let Ben have true happiness after he killed his father - my husband - but I never expected him to have a girlfriend that'd be so easy to kill.
Gloria: (Silence)

Seth: I warned you Phyllis. I knew this was going to get us into trouble!
Phyllis: Oh will you shut up. She hasn't kicked us out yet. Maybe it was just a threat.
Seth: She's an angry woman, Phyllis. And I know better than anyone that angry woman are not to be crossed.
Phyllis: I'm an angry woman am I?
Seth: I didn't mean that.
Phyllis: Yes you did! What else am I Seth? You've been so quiet these years so come on, out with it!
Seth: Phyllis calm down. You're being irrational.
Phyllis: Angry, now irrational. Ooh we're getting somewhere here now.
Seth: Phyllis for God's sake shut up!

Phyllis: I, I...
Seth: Phyllis?
Phyllis: I think I'm having a heart attack...
Seth: What?
Phyllis: Dial 999. Now.
Seth: Oh Phyllis.
Phyllis: Hurry!
Seth: Okay, just take a seat and I'll get the phone.

Seth: And please hurry.

Kerry: Dad?
Seth: Kerry?! What are you doing here?
Kerry: I came to see mum and you.
Seth: But the police. And you're on the run.
Kerry: What's happened to mum.
Seth: Erm, nothing. I just can't believe you're here.
Kerry: You called an ambulance - I heard you.
Seth: Oh, it's nothing. Just a heart attack.
Kerry: Just a heart attack?
Seth: You can't see her - or stay here. You'll get caught. You have to go.
Kerry: Won't you tell mum I've been here?
Seth: No, I won't say anything. Now go.
Kerry: It's okay, I have to anyway, I have a few things I plan on doing before I get caught by the police.
Seth: Kerry?
Kerry: Yes?
Seth: Don't do anything stupid.
Kerry: Don't worry, I won't.
